8:00-10:00 p.m.: Keynote Speech: "Making a Life Significant: Confucianism and Dewey in Dialogue," Dr. Roger Ames.
Saturday, October 199:00-9:30 a.m.: Self-introduction by Participants.
9:30-11:30 a.m.: "Human Rights, Human Wrongs: Does Culture Matter?" Dr. Peter Hershock and Dr. Roger Ames.
11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.: Lunch Recess (meals will be served on site).
1:00-3:00 p.m.: "Building a Sense of Community in Japanese Urban Neighborhood," Dr. Sawa Becker and Dr. C. Scott Littleton.3:00-3:30 p.m. Break.
3:30-5:30 p.m. "'Romance of the Fruit Peddler': Images of Urban Transformation in Early Twentieth Century China," Dr. Paul Pickowicz.

8:00-10:30: Film Screenings and Informal Discussion (optional activity).
