Policies for C.S. classes
Paul McQuesten
Policies:
- Normal university policies concerning incomplete, etc.
In particular, you cannot get an incomplete just because you fell behind.
- Please notice that I cannot change the date of the final exam, even if
it conflicts with your travel schedule, or even if you bought an airplane ticket.
- Make-up for tests requires either 2 weeks of advance notice (in case of
an allowable planned absence), or a statement from your medical provider
(in case of an unforeseen problem).
- All homework assignments are due at the start of class on the due date.
Assignments that are not printed before the start of class will not be accepted.
Handwritten assignments will not be graded (except that diagrams &c may
be hand-drawn).
- Class time is not to be used for email, chat, etc.
In general, if you aren't willing to pay attention, please leave the classroom.
- There is no formal attendance policy, but it will be difficult to score
participation points if you aren't there.
- You are responsible for all material in the readings, as well as what
is covered during class.
If you miss a class, you really need to get notes from someone.
- No extra credit work will be available.
- Assigned work is to be an individual endeavor.
Some upper-division projects may be done as teams, but only
with explicit permission.
- Discussion about assignments should be of a general nature.
However, explaining something to another person is a proven
way of deepening one's own understanding, and I encourage it.
- Any academic dishonesty will result in a failing grade.
If you have any doubt if your current assignment is permitted to be
a group effort, ASK while there is still time to do the work
yourself.
